As per the report received from UIDAI through the UDISE Portal, approximately 16.51 lakh students in Andhra Pradesh require Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU) in their Aadhaar records.

To address this pendency, the Government has decided to conduct special Aadhaar camps across the state.

Government Order Summary

The Commissioner & Director of Municipal Administration (C&DMA) requested the Government to appoint Special Officers in Urban Local Bodies whose elected bodies have completed their tenure.

Based on the recommendation of the State Election Commission and the proposal received from the Municipal Administration Department, the Government has decided to appoint Special Officers in 11 Municipal Corporations and 75 Municipalities / Nagar Panchayats.

These Special Officers will administer the respective Urban Local Bodies for a period of six months or until newly elected bodies assume office.

Legal Provision

The Government has issued these orders by exercising the powers under the following Acts:

  • Section 62-A of the Andhra Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1965
  • Section 17(1) of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations Act, 1994
